shall take away i.e. remove. Cf. ch. Eze 37:22-23. The "detestable things" are the false gods (1Ki 11:5; 1Ki 11:7; 2Ki 23:13), and all the accompaniments of the debased worship (cf. ch. Eze 33:25-26).
